1662Anglican.org aims to provide strong, clear, and compelling content to help Anglicans today root their identity in the reformed tradition of the 1500s.

A commitment to the authority of God’s Word and a desire to proclaim the true gospel shaped the English reformation. The message of salvation found in Holy Scripture captivated archbishop Thomas Cranmer and his fellow ministers. Every man and every woman is dead in their trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1). Individual works or merits cannot restore fallen men and women to life with God because all are corrupt to the core, sick with sin in the heart (Eph. 2:8-9; Mark 7:21-23). All that we do without grace and without faith proceeds from sin and results in sin (Rom. 14:23).

The reformers rediscovered the true gospel - the message of salvation - and devoted themselves to communicating the good news at all costs.

What is that gospel?

We receive forgiveness of sins because “of GOD’S mercy and Christ’s merits…by faith, for our perfect and full justification” (Homily 3, The Salvation of Mankind).

God has accomplished everything necessary for our redemption through the work of His Son, Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Faith alone in Jesus Christ alone is the only way to be raised from death in sin to eternal life with God (John 3:16). This message is the good news of salvation given by God because of His grace and communicated in the Word of God (Eph. 2:8).

These reformational principles formed the foundation of the Anglican Church in the 1500s and must continue to guide the Anglican Communion today.

We believe Anglicanism is at its best when these gospel-centered pillars hold up our tradition and guide our mission in the world.

Therefore, we seek to provide Bible-rich materials and reformational content to help foster Anglican formation in our reformed heritage.
